Inpiration for the new warp.

Christian Lacroix 1992 Spring-Summer haute-couture collection and his 1991/92 Fall/Winter haute-couture collection, Paris
I am not sure what collection or year this is from, but the colour combinations are fantastic

rayon warp
I have been browsing the huge number of Lacroix images out in web land and have discovered 2 new images I had not seen before. So for my warp I am using the pink/orange ruff blouse and the dress above. so warp colours of pink, gold, bronze and orange to start with I think. A small fabric sample and then maybe some passementerie?

Got My Buzz Back

I did enjoy today :) this is the result - doesn't look like a few hours' work does it?

And this is one of the baby shuttles one of the wood students made for me! A whole 8cm long! So cute and so useful - makes those pleats so much easier!

A God and a Start Again

My friend Sandra wore this scarf the other day -

It's a Nuno scarf in overtwisted yarn which looks a lot like a Junichi Arai (who I will forever think of as one of my 'small gods') design for them. It was quite the highlight of the day!

It also reminds me of line drawings by Vasilj Godzh in the current issue of IDN vol 19 no. 3 2012. Link

And my new start for the day - I just need to play and make something beautiful today - need my soul/sanity/life restored. I was about to wind a new warp when I realised I still had quite a bit in this neglected warp.

So I tied it up again and I'm ready to play. After a coffee of course! And looking at it the song lyrics popped into my head "give it to me baby, a huh a huh." So, little refreshing warp, this is what I ask!

New warp

Well a new warp on the loom. I still have to thread it up but didn't think that would be a good idea with jet lag!
Its a rayon warp that I have had hanging on the Toika loom for quite some time. so the aim it to wind it on this weekend. I think there is enough for 2 scarves, its 10 inches with 24 threads to the inch. I have no idea what I had planned for it when I wound it so a little thought has to go into it now.

I also bought this book while away. Belly

Sneak peak

This is a sneak look at some work being done by someone locally who I've been advising technically (in a very small way only - she's very clever!) I can't show the whole piece yet - I will in a couple of weeks. I was just so excited by it that I had to take a couple of images (with approval) and show you! All credit details will come when I can show you the full piece soon.

Inspirations

Ok, since I haven't managed to get much weaving done, I thought I'd better put something up, so here are a few things that have caught my eye recently as inspirations for cloth -

from a show at Brooklyn Museum
 Dita von Teese
 Alexander McQueen

 Alexander McQueen
 George de Feure
Unfortunately I don't have credits for a lot of these - too much time on Pinterest! If you know any, please let me know and I'll re-edit.

I can definitely think of some fabrics to create from these!
