Easton Pearson exhibition

One of my favourite Australia design duos are being exhibitied at Gmoa Brisbane.

22 August – 8 November 2009 Gallery 1.3 and Foyer Cabinet, GoMA Brisbane Qld.

A survey exhibition of the Brisbane-based, internationally acclaimed fashion house Easton Pearson, which this year celebrates its twentieth anniversary, will open at the Gallery of Modern Art in August. The exhibition will feature designs drawn from Easton Pearson’s own archive, and will explore the designers’ eclectic sources of inspiration and the edgy glamour, exquisitely embellished fabrics and vibrant colours that have made them one of Australia’s most successful design teams.

Word association

Well Melly
What come to mind when I ask the questions of the above image.
Colour, texture, structure, drape, emotion.
One word for each answer except for colour and texture!
Colour = grey-silver-mushroom- blue-green,
Texture = smooth
Structure = satin weave maybe Leno lace and dare I say pleats
Drape = drippy
Emotion = sexy

So what will that translate into weaving? I am thinking 3-4 panels. Then what

Loom set up

Well I have started to move in. Mel came to Canberra for a few days to help me set up the looms. We first has to put the loom down at Queanbeyan and the transport it to the studio.

It all when together very well really no major hick ups but then the problem of the shafts lifting is my main problem. They don't!

I have not st up my 8 shaft Tokia as well and it has a linen warp wound on but not threaded there is the slight problem of where are the threading hooks etc.

Jill is coming out soon to help with the shafts and hopefully it will be full steam ahead.
