update

Thanks for popping in this evening Mel. We had a quick dinner of lamb steaks and stir fried vegetables and some lively discussion.

First thing is an update on my last post. Yes I cleaned out the pantry although there is a pile on the kitchen bench of sweet treats my daughter has to deal with. Its mostly hers.
The kitchen benches and dinning table has been cleaned and use so many times they almost need another clearing after a big weekend of wedding sweets table and other paraphernalia that came into the house. So I will do a quick tidy of both of these before bed. Can you believe that I have been told which chocolate Easter Rabbit to get. I said NO chocolate but seems we have to have our Easter egg.

Table is tidy when I look at it, I must put the Christmas candle branch away although I do like it in winter as our christmas is hot. I need more candles which are hard to find in the correct size.

I have almost finished the warp ( one beautiful grand son always takes me away from the loom. I should be more disciplined),  so much has happen over the past few weeks I am not sure where the weeks went and what I did in that time. I am about to hit the loom for an hour before its to noisy for the neighbors as it is already 8.10pm.

So thoughts are now focused on the next thing to weave although I have some study to do at ANU and it involves machine embroidery. I do need to weave some blankets so if not a blanket warp I will have to get a least a scarf warp on the loom as its getting cold and everyone needs scarves in winter. Will keep you posted on how both progress.

Happy loom and some weaving started

I have been weaving most of today and have got quiet a bit done. I am happy with what I did get done today and the loom just purred along. I think its happy to be at home in the warmth. Although I had
planned much more for the weekend, I just spend  time with my family and a catch up with friends Julie Ryder and Melanie Olde to plan a pop up shop at the end of July. (Details soon)

So have started to plan my weekend and again another full on.

I still have about 40 cm to weave, I got 135 cm done today. I am worried about my
shoulder and back so have been taking it slow. Belly

My loom has a new home

Thank you again Melly, you always come to the rescue. Yesterday Mel and I set up my AVL in a spare room at my house. She will be very happy in this room! Its heated and opposite my room so I can pop in and out to weave at any time. I am rethreading the warp that was on the loom before we moved it from my old studio. I am hoping that this will be more productive for me. I should get this warp off in a day or so then I want to put my long silk and wool warp on and weave it off. I has been wound for some years and just waiting for some weaving love!

Loom almost ready to thread up.

I should have painted the room before I move the loom in. I think the pink and green walls really has had its day and needs to go. I am looking for a small shelve unit to go beside the storage that I put in yesterday, but has to fit under the stairs. Any way thanks Mel hope you are doing lots of weaving this week.

Everyone needs storage, oh that pink wall has to go!

Two scarves from my using up the stash warp. There is a hell of a stash to use I have to admit
so maybe every second warp need to be a stash buster warp, what do you think Mel?

Back in my studio after 2 months away

So finally go to upload a few images. This was yesterdays effort before I had to run and do one of my favorite duties, baby sit my beautiful grand son. So half the warp is threaded in the heddles and I didnt think to count how many threads
Today has not turned out the way i wanted so no studio today. so back there on Friday.
Am loving your posts Melly, the warp is looking fantastic. cant wait to see more and more in person. My warp is so dull in comparison but hopefully with the copper weft and some texture it will come alive.

Inpiration for the new warp.

Christian Lacroix 1992 Spring-Summer haute-couture collection and his 1991/92 Fall/Winter haute-couture collection, Paris
I am not sure what collection or year this is from, but the colour combinations are fantastic

rayon warp
I have been browsing the huge number of Lacroix images out in web land and have discovered 2 new images I had not seen before. So for my warp I am using the pink/orange ruff blouse and the dress above. so warp colours of pink, gold, bronze and orange to start with I think. A small fabric sample and then maybe some passementerie?
